Children's Drama Project

The Irish Stammering Association are delighted to have worked with the Gaiety School of Acting to provide a series of workshops for children who stammer. The programme ran for 9 weeks from the end of January in the Gaiety Schools studio in Temple Bar and was delivered by their voice coach, Cathal Quinn. 9 children between the ages of 8 and 12 participated in the workshops and got an opportunity to develop their creative skills, while also meeting new friends in a friendly, yet professional environment. The programme ended with a showcase where the children got a chance to show their parents and friends that stuttering does not have to stop anyone speaking, drawing, storytelling, singing or dancing. This amazing bunch of kids is an inspiration to all by showing their courage, enthusiasm and honesty when performing.

The ISA would like to thank the HSE for their generous funding of this project. We would also like to thank John Delaney, Outreach Coordinator at the Gaiety School of Acting, for his help in setting up this project. The ISA would particularly like to thank Cathal Quinn for his enthusiasm, inventiveness, patience and particularly his openness to working with this group of young people; together they made a magical combination. The ISA and GSA are working together to hold further workshops later this year. First up is Tale Town which will run from July 6-10th. More details will be posted on our website as they become available.
