To celebrate International Stuttering Awareness Day, ISA are holding a weeklong series of events (from October 15th - 22nd) including our 14th annual National Stammering Awareness Day! An interactive workshop ‘Accessing Higher Level- Supports for someone who stammers’ will be held on 15 October at 10am via zoom
This workshop will be hosted by the ISA and will include a panel of experts discussing the challenges and supports available for students in Higher Level Education who stammer.
The panel will include a student’s perspective: Bevin Murphy is a fourth year students Higher Education. She will give details of her experience through further education and into higher level education.
Lorraine Gallagher is the Information Officer with AHEAD- the objective of AHEAD is to create inclusive environments in education and employment for people with disabilities in Ireland. Lorraine will be sharing with us her valuable insight of how to navigate the supports available in higher level education.
James McCormack is the Head of Counselling at NUIG and is a registered psychotherapist and supervisor. James will be sharing his in-depth knowledge and experience of supporting students who stammer in higher level education as well as sharing from his own wealth of personal experience.
This workshop is suitable for you if you are accessing higher level education, looking to access higher level education or if you know or care for somebody who is. This workshop will also be open to those who may be supporting a person who stammers through their role or seeking information of how to support a potential student who stammers.
