To celebrate International Stuttering Awareness Day, ISA are holding a weeklong series of events (from October 15th - 22nd) including our 14th annual National Stammering Awareness Day! This years theme is "Journey of Words - Resilience and Bouncing Back". For more scheduled events please see our homepage.
ISA are excited to be hosting this lunchtime briefing as part of our National Stammering Awareness Day (NSAD) programme 2020.
NSAD 2020 is being organised as a series of weeklong events ranging from Support group meetings, ISA AGM, Walk and Talk events and Employer and Education based information sessions.
Specialisterne Ireland was set up in 2013 to support people on the autism spectrum to gain and maintain employment in an Irish context. Specialisterne Ireland has developed hiring and management practices that facilitate the employment of our candidates by removing the barriers to once inaccessible industries and careers.
Noreen is the operations lead for Specialisterne Ireland and is responsible for assessing candidate needs, working with candidates on an individual basis to develop skills necessary for employment and providing ongoing support to candidates in the workplace
Noreen has a background in psychology and has completed an MSc in Psychological Science. She has several years of experience in the area of research and implementation of interventions to improve communication skills in people on the autism spectrum.
ISA worked with Specialisterne earlier this year to help them to develop ways of assisting people who stammer in the recruitment process. They will kindly share from their own experience of working with someone who stammers as well as sharing any insights they gained from the support of ISA
