The Irish Stammering Association recognise that people who stammer often want to make changes in their speech and possibly in their lives but can find it hard to know where and how to start making those changes. As someone who has attended an ISA support group you may be looking for an opportunity to explore how you can take responsibility for change in your life and begin to address issues to do with your stammering then this might interest you.
ISA is offering its members a chance to take part in a one day workshop that is designed to help start that change process. An experienced people development consultant will facilitate the workshop where participants, in a fun and inclusive environment, can begin to understand their preferred style of interacting as well as gaining a better understanding of their unique strengths. During the workshop participants will have an opportunity to build on these insights and work on their strengths so they can identify how to begin taking responsibility for making the changes they want.
The workshop is open to adult members who stammer who feel they may benefit from taking some time out to think about and plan how to make change in their lives, if you are not currently a member of the ISA joining is simple and costs of €20; see our website for more information on how to join http://www.stammeringireland.ie
The workshop will take place on Fri 22nd March in the Hilton Hotel, Kilmainham, Dublin 8 from 10am – 5pm followed by dinner. There is overnight accommodation available in the hotel if people wish to avail of it; this must be booked at the time of booking the workshop. The cost of the workshop itself is covered by funding from Dublin Bus and refreshments, lunch & dinner costs are sponsored by Irish Stammering Association. Overnight accommodation is paid by participants and ISA are working with Hilton Hotel to get a good deal on this. Participants will have to fill in a questionnaire in advance of the workshop and for confidentiality reasons will be returned directly to the facilitator.
